The Annex, Toronto

The Annex, one of Toronto's premier neighbourhoods, is known for its lively atmosphere, trendy eateries and unique shops.
It's also popular among dog owners because of its friendliness toward our furry friends!
Parks & Green Spaces
The wide-open green space that The Annex has to offer is a big draw for dog owners to this vibrant neighbourhood!
Vermont Square Park, located at 819 Palmerston Ave., is a favourite place for locals to bring their dogs & families. The square has a large open area to the south that is used for off-leash dog walking and is a central point for accessing a diverse range of facilities such as a fenced-in playground, an outdoor wading pool, and indoor pool and hockey rink, as well as 3 bocce courts!

Jean Sibelius Square This quaint park bordered by Bernard Ave., Brunswick Ave., Wells St. and Kendall Ave. is a refreshing green space for dogs to explore numerous park fixtures amongst the terrains. This is a frequent favourite spot to stroll through for our Annex-based Leash & Paws dog walker, Conan. Notably, this park is embedded within a residential area, so you can expect to see other pet owners walking their dogs in the early mornings and late evenings. . A bike-share station is located in the south-east corner of the park that is easily accessible for owners if they are traveling with smaller breeds who are down for the ride!

Bickford Park Although this park is technically outside of the boundaries of The Annex, it's just a quick 10-minute walk away making it easily accessible for locals. This park offers an off-leash, unfenced green space for our four legged friends to frolick in. The park offers 24-hour access during the winter, and slightly restricted hours during the summer months. If your dog likes the company, you'll be happy to know that there's usually a big bunch of friendly and playful dogs in this park at any given time during the day.

Leash & Paws walker since May 2020
Tell us about yourself! When I was 2 years old my family introduced an extremely hyper Springer Spaniel pup into our family and I have been passionate about dogs ever since. When I am not out walking dogs I am usually at my happiest going for runs and exploring new places. I also love going to music concerts whenever I can get the chance.

What is your favourite part about walking dogs? I love that I am making a career out of something I would gladly volunteer to do anyways, and getting to know the various vibrant personalities of my doggy clients both big and small.

If you could be any type of dog, what would you be and why? If I was a dog I would probably be a golden retriever as I am very friendly and always enjoy meeting new people!

The traditional boundaries of The Annex neighbourhood are north to Dupont Street, south to Bloor Street, west to Bathurst Street and east to Avenue Road.
