My Wingman Oliver is the true story of Randy Plante and his Lab/Sheppard mix Oliver. Having just finished the book myself, it is a great story about the patience required to love a rescue dog, and the many rewards that come with it.
Randy rescued Oliver from a shelter just outside the Washington DC area where he lives. The book recounts the early days of getting Oliver adjusted to his new home and helping him work through some of the issues he developed prior to his adoption.
Randy also provides a great description of all of the dog friendly businesses and services available in his home town of Alexandria Virginia. Perhaps my favourite canine event mentioned is “Dog Cocktail Hour”. At the Alexandria Holiday Inn patio bar between April until October dog owners can bring their pets by for a night out with drinks on the patio. I think this is a great idea!

My Wingman Oliver is a cute story of the rewarding relationship between a dog and an owner. I would recommend you check it out!
